In order to process a VAT return correctly in the accounts, it must be closed. Upon closing, the correct journal entries will be recorded and the VAT return will be placed in your payment list (provided payment is due).
There are two different ways to close a VAT return:
- Have Yuki send it to the tax authorities
- Send it yourself to the tax Authorities.
For example, the VAT return is sent directly via the tax authorities website or via its own software.
Have Yuki send it to the tax authorities
If you choose to send the VAT return to the tax authorities, Yuki will prepare and send the digital VAT return. The moment the tax authorities confirms that this digital VAT return has been successfully received, the VAT return will be closed. In that case, Yuki records the exact times when the messages were sent to and confirmed by the tax authorities.
After clicking on the Send button, the VAT return in Yuki will get the status 'Closed'.
Send it yourself to the tax authorities
If a VAT return is sent outside Yuki to the tax authorities, for example via the tax authorities website or via its own software, this must be indicated. There is no check for Yuki as to whether the VAT return has actually been submitted to the tax authorities on time.
After clicking on the Sent differently button, the VAT return in Yuki gets the status 'Sent differently'.
For a detailed description of the different statuses of a VAT return, see article Status of VAT return in domain.
